Students Galore

We have a new update for you this holiday weekend, and it's a special one to boot. First, let's take care of business: The first new series is Great Teacher Onizuka, the story of an ex-gangster turned teacher which I found very refreshing to watch. I tend to watch a lot of girl-oriented shows so something with more testosterone was a nice change of pace. The fact that it was a good series made it even more enjoyable.
Next was NieA Under 7 which I picked solely on the strength of Yoshitoshi ABe's character designs. I thought it was a decent series overall and it took me a bit to get into it, but by the end I was glad I watched it. Beware though: Like Haibane Renmei, a lot of background details are intentionally left vague.
Last, we have a two episode OAV called Sukeban Deka, about a delinquent student getting a reprieve from prison by agreeing to investigate suspicious students. It was definitely one of those OAVs that are little more than a glimpse into the manga from which they are adapted, but it was an interesting watch regardless.
